Logan Martin misses out on defending Olympic gold in Paris

Jul 31, 2024

The men’s final would be a hotly contested one with multiple riders reeling off 90-plus point runs on the back of some massive stunts in front of a jam packed arena.

After a third place in qualifying, defending champion Logan Martin was ready to throw it all to defend his Olympic crown.

Logan Martin finished 7th in the final at Paris 2024

A simple mistake on his first trick would prove costly, but he recovered well to include a competition first bike flip which had the audience on their feet.

With his second run beckoning, the Queenslander threw down a quadruple tail whip impressing the packed crowd.

But with six seconds remaining he would crash on the final obstacle attempting a double flair and finish with a 64.4 ending hopes of back to back Olympic glory.

Argentina’s Jose Torres Gil first round score of 94.82 would be enough to claim the gold.

Martin would finish seventh and admitted post competition the execution wasn't spot on.

"I'm not disappointed in the fact I didn't walk away with a medal, I'm disappointed in the fact I wasn't able to pull my run."

"Life moves on, I'll be ok.

"I didn't doubt myself for a second but it just wasn't to be today," he said.
